Domaine et Château de Valinches’s commitment to protecting the environment
From biodiversity, to energy, water, recycling, to “green” purchases, and a no-waste attitude, Domaine de Valinches’s overall management strategy adheres to an environmentally responsible sustainable development approach. To heat and cool the indoor premises on the estate, Château de Valinches set up the largest geothermal facility in the entire Loire department and aims to obtain BBC certification for all its renovation projects. These initiatives provide fully decarbonised renewable energy without having to sacrifice any aspect of quality, modern-world comfort.
Furthering its efforts to promote heritage and preserve nature, Domaine et Château de Valinches is also committed to enforcing a local approach as much as possible with regard to both products and services.
As such, for maintenance and renovation projects, the Domaine involves local businesses on a systematic basis, and electric vehicles are used for getting around on the grounds. Beyond the ecological aspects, this strategy also falls in line with local traditions, calling on the know-how and passion of experienced local craftspeople.
The mattresses and bed linen in our hotel rooms are all made in France and the hygiene products we provide and cleaning products we use all have eco-friendly certifications. Our bathroom renovation projects, predominantly feature European acacia wood, thus excluding the use of conventional timber such as teak or Ipe that carry a disastrous ecological impact. Single-use plastic bottles are also banned throughout the premises, and reusable or recyclable materials are used instead.
The restaurant Chef and his kitchen brigades are looking to start their very own vegetable garden. Weeding will be performed using boiling water, as it is already the case throughout the estate, and pest control will comply with the core principles of organic farming (insecticidal soap, for example).
